How everything works, in the order you'll meet it.
Duskr keeps everything on your phone. There's no account to make and nothing to sign into — which also means nobody can reset your password for you, so the backup section near the end is worth reading.
Onboarding asks for your goal, sex, bodyweight, height and birthday, how many days a week you train and what equipment you have. None of it leaves your phone; it's used to work out sensible calorie and macro targets, to build your routines, and to keep the exercise list to things you can actually do. Only sex and bodyweight are required — everything else can be skipped.
You start with routines already built. Tell onboarding how many days a week you train and it sets up the matching split — full body, upper/lower, one muscle group a day, or push/pull/legs — with the exercises swapped for what your gym has. Skip the question and you get three ready-made routines instead. Either way they're only a starting point: change them, delete them, or make your own.
The last step offers Apple Health, rest timer alerts and iCloud backup. All three are optional and can be turned on later in Settings.
A routine is an ordered list of exercises with a target number of sets each. Drag to reorder. Tap an exercise to open its set details, where you can set a rep range, mark sets as taken to failure, add drop sets, and set how long to rest.
Rest is set per routine, not per exercise — so bench on your light day can rest differently from bench on your heavy day.
Duskr suggests a session based on your weekday schedule if you've set one, and otherwise rotates through your routines in order. On a rest day it offers anything you missed earlier the same week, and says so rather than quietly serving up Thursday's session on a Saturday. Missed sessions expire when the week does, so a bad fortnight doesn't leave the app nagging you about something from ten days ago.
Enter weight and reps, then tap the tick. Duskr suggests your next load from what you did last time, so most sets are one tap. When you hit the target number of sets it moves you to the next exercise automatically. Swipe left and right to move between exercises yourself.
A freestyle session skips the routine entirely — pick exercises as you go and it keeps them in the order you did them. At the end you can save it as a routine.
Logging a set starts your rest. The countdown appears in the app, on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and an alert fires when it's up.
To feel it on your Apple Watch, lock your phone or put it in your pocket. iPhone only forwards notifications to a watch when it's locked or the screen is off — that's Apple's rule, not ours. Whether it makes a noise follows your ringer switch, so silent mode still buzzes.
By default the rest that starts on an exercise's last set keeps running as you move to the next exercise. If you'd rather go straight on, turn off Rest between exercises in Settings → During a workout. Rest between sets is always on.
Search by name, scan a barcode, or quick-add calories when you can't be bothered. Every branded food in Duskr has been checked against its actual nutrition label rather than copied from another app — and where a food is a stand-in for something with no packet, like a bakery muffin, it says so.
Your targets adjust to your real weight trend rather than sticking to the formula they started from. If you're losing faster or slower than you asked for, they move.
The diary is one list in the order you logged it. If you'd rather see breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks separately, turn on Group food by meal in Settings → Optional tracking.
Log your weight whenever; Duskr uses a trend rather than the raw number, so a heavy dinner doesn't look like failure. Set a target weight and Duskr shows roughly when you'll reach it, moving the date as your plan re-tunes. You can optionally track body fat percentage and tape measurements, and take progress photos — those stay in the app and are never uploaded, with an optional setting to also save them to your camera roll.
The Strength tab compares your lifts against population standards, with worldwide and New Zealand percentiles.
Long-press your home screen, tap +, and search for Duskr. There are three: today's macros, your next workout, and both side by side. The first two also work on the Lock Screen, under the clock. Tapping one opens the matching part of the app.
They update as you log, and roll over to a fresh day at midnight on their own.
Because there's no account, your data lives and dies with your phone unless you do something about it. Two options, and they're not exclusive:
